Thesis Blog #2

So I went out and bought As I Lay Dying. I didn't understand that it was about a family waiting for their mother/wife to do. I definitely thought that with a title like that it would be a book with a lot of action. So since it was absolutely nothing like what I thought it was i didn't enjoy it at all. It wasn't compelling in the least, it was slow moving and took a while to establish the everything.
One piece of the text i don't think i will forget is when it is mentioned that the mother's coffin, which is being made by one of her sons, is being constructed just outside her window. Everyday she gets to hear the wood being cut and the nails getting hammered into place.
I'm going to try to find a new American Author. I'll ask my mom for suggestions

Thesis Blog #1

My first choice for an American Author was William Faulkner. As I started to read the Reavers, I decided to watch it instead. So I rented the Reavers. Overall a pretty good movie. So I thought I'd try the book again. Terrible Idea. I couldn't get past page twenty. Faulkner's writing style is very dense and quite boring...... Hmm, maybe i should try Hemingway?
